The most famous of the Gauls is in Phnom Penh!

A village of diehards, mustachioed magic potion enthusiasts, weak Romans, spit-roasted boars, a muzzled bard, sunken pirates and epic adventures around the world… For over 60 years, Asterix, Obelix and company have been making young and old audience laugh. Born from the pens of illustrator Albert Uderzo and writer René Goscinny in 1959, they have since toured the world.

Since the publication of the very first comic strip, 12 animated films have been made. (Re)discover their adventures with the animation cinema series “The Gauls in Cambodia”, which will present 5 films from Asterix’s odyssey, every Saturday in September, at the Institut français movie theater!

In a tiny corner of Brittany, one small village of indomitable Gauls holds out against the almighty, all-conquering Romans. The Gauls are mighty fighters, but none more so than Asterix, a dauntless and cunning warrior who gets his tremendous strength from drinking a magic potion supplied to him by Druid Getafix. Cleopatra summons Edifis, who claims to be the best architect in Egypt. She promises Edifis that if he builds the palace on time he will be covered with gold; if he fails, he will be a meal for the sacred crocodiles.
