Status : Local contract
Working hours: Between 39 and 48 hours/week – 32 working days of paid leave/year + 11 holidays
Education: Two years of previous experience on a similar job

Associated with the French Embassy in Cambodia, the French Institute of Cambodia (IFC) plays a key role in the cultural, artistic, and educational cooperation between France and Cambodia. It promotes French culture in a broad sense (arts, movies, music, literature, language, cuisine, « art de vivre ») through various activities – such as exhibitions, screenings, concerts, conferences, etc. It is also a place where students wishing to study in France might find information, as well as a key actor in the dialogue between French and Cambodian cultures.

The French Institute of Phnom Penh includes a Language Center (5.000 students per year), a media library, a café/restaurant Le BISTROT, a movie theater with a capacity of 120 seats, as well as an exhibition gallery. All of these services enable the Institute to complete its missions and implement its motto: “Cultural sharing”.

Le BISTROT de l’Institut français and its 10-person staff welcome customers from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8am to 10pm, in its bar or its air-con equipped restaurant which has the capacity of hosting up to 50 persons. Le BISTROT can also be made available outside its usual opening hours for the organization of professional or private events.

Job description
Under the authority and supervision of the Manager of Le BISTROT as well as his deputy manager, the waiter / waitress is in charge of :

  • Customer reception;
  • Table presentation;
  • Order taking;
  • Customer service;
  • Cleaning.

The waiter / waitress might also be required, under preconditions, to handle customer transactions at the check-out.

Required skills

  • Excellent presentation;
  • Good customer service skills: courtesy, politeness and discretion;
  • Good memory;
  • Precision and honesty;
  • Capacity to work as a team;
  • Oral English compulsory, French appreciated.

Salary: level 2 of the current IFC salary scale aka 245.00 USD gross + 10% bonus
