Presentation
Associated with the French Embassy in Cambodia, the French Institute of Cambodia (IFC) plays a key role in the cultural, artistic, and educational cooperation between France and Cambodia. It promotes French culture in a broad sense (arts, movies, music, literature, language, cuisine, « art de vivre ») through various activities – such as exhibitions, screenings, concerts, conferences, etc. It also promotes the dialogue between French and Cambodian cultures.

The French Institute of Phnom Penh includes a Language Center (5.000 students per year), a media library, a café/restaurant Le BISTROT, a movie theater with a capacity of 120 seats, as well as an exhibition gallery. All of these services enable the Institute to complete its missions and implement its motto: “Experience cultures”.

Le BISTROT de l’Institut français and its 10-person staff welcome customers from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8am to 10pm, in its bar or its air-con equipped restaurant which has the capacity of hosting up to 50 persons. Le BISTROT can also be made available outside its usual opening hours for the organization of professional or private events.

Job description
Under the direct authority of the Chef of Le BISTROT and his second, the cook participates in the daily operations of the kitchen to ensure the various services of the day (lunch, dinner, snacks).

His main tasks are as follows:

– Preparation of raw materials
– Realization of dishes according to the menu
– Dishwashing
– Cleaning of equipment and premises
– Maintenance of the material (in relation with the steward)

Skills
Technical skills :

• Skills in culinary techniques
• Knowledge of hygiene and safety rules
• Khmer and English essential, notions of French appreciated

Required qualities :
• Timeliness
• Good physical resistance
• Ability to work under pressure
• Sense of organization
