In 1917, George Groslier – at the time director of the National Museum of Phnom Penh and in an effort to archive and preserve the memory of the postures of the royal ballet – began an exceptional work of photographic documentation. The glass plate negative remained forgotten for some time, before being cataloged and digitized in recent years. After being shown at the National Museum of Cambodia in 2012, then in New York, Paris and Siem Reap, these unique pictures are now exhibited in the IFC gallery.
Exhibition created by the NMC and the EFEO (with the support of the IFC and UNESCO)
Opening on Thursday 15 June at 6:30pm
Exhibition until September 7, 2017
