Nestled at the top of a hill, the Laang Spean Cave – a cave of exceptional dimensions – was discovered in July 1965 by two French archaeologists who excavated the site every year with RUFA students until 1971. 40 years after the Khmer Rouge regime, the resumption of the excavations in 2009 by the French-Cambodian Prehistoric Mission, let by Hubert Forestier and Heng Sophady, enables us to know more about prehistoric Cambodia.
