Freeing, erudite, physical, lacking any calculation or modesty, O.’s sparkling pop music reminds us of Daniel Balavoine’s musical hero, David Byrne and Peter Gabriel. It is the euphoric proof that the greatest self-explained fact is often the fruit of the greatest sophistication, and that one can only ever really create anything of worth by eagerly stamping on the fringes of what is considered “cool” and tasteful.
